It's not so much "whatever that means." It's whoever...

"Dear Elder Cannon: you are hereby called to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the Colombia Bogota North Mission. It is anticipated that you will serve for a period of 24 months...You will prepare to preach the gospel in the Spanish language... "

Some random thoughts...

...expressed in random ways.

Sometimes I feel a certain way, but I really can't express in words what it is that I feel. It's probably just my lack of eloquence and skill with words, but more than that, I think there are some feelings in this life that really can't be explained. Sometimes it just takes more than words. Maybe it's just a personal problem...who knows.

I saw a red-tailed hawk today. It was in a really random place, too. At least...random for a red-tailed hawk. I was driving up 8th East in Orem, right at the spot where it turns the corner and becomes 16th North. As I turned the corner, it flew from the grass on the left side of the road up onto a street lamp. Crazy! It was a beautiful bird. I had to drive by a couple more times to get a better look at it. Yep.

I think I want to read C. S. Lewis' The Screwtape Letters again. It's such a thought-provoking book. I love it. I think I also want to reread Ender's Game. We'll see if either of those things happen. If I don't do it in the next 4 months, it won't happen for 2 years, so I might want to get on that. I have been reading number 11 of the Tennis Shoes Adventure Series...but that's more of a candy book. It's like watching TV...but without electricity. Okay, it might be slightly more fulfilling than watching TV. TV is usually just degrading. In my experience at least. Um, yeah. Anyway...

Adam Young is one of my heroes. For one, he's just cool. Two, his music is amazing.Yeah, it might all sound the same...but his lyrics are incredible! I really admire his brain. Also, he has a pretty good voice. It might be a little breathy at times, but I think it fits with the feeling of his music. One day, I hope to be as cool as this guy.

"If I'm your boy, let's take a short cut we remember
And we'll enjoy, picking apples in late September
Like we've done for years
Then we'll take a long walk through the corn field
And I'll kiss you between the ears"

Really, you can't beat that. He writes the happiest, most profoundly ...clever lyrics you'll ever hear. Love it.

Here's a bit of inspiration for your day:

Go get 'em!

...walking isn't all bad, right? ;)

Have a nice day...

Oh, Canada...

This is just one more reason I smile when I think about Canada. ;)

Even random Wal-Mart shoppers know the truth.

Story time! :)

Once upon a time, I went to Wal-Mart. I happened to be wearing my BYU-Idaho t-shirt, even though at the time, I had not yet attended BYU-Idaho. I was walking toward the electronics department (pretty much the only entertaining department at Wal-Mart), when I spotted a nice sample lady giving out delicious samples. After consuming whatever delicious free food the sample lady had given me, I went to throw away my toothpick. There was a fellow sampler there trying her hardest to open the garbage can. It was one of those fancy type where you step on the pedal and the lid pops open. Well, I went over and did just that. Still wearing a somewhat confused look, she thanked me, disposed of her toothpick, and walked away. A random shopper who had been watching the whole thing said, "That's why you go to BYU-Idaho." I laughed, and agreed with him.
I then continued my journey to the electronics department, and not 15 seconds later, another (very nice) lady came blazing around a corner with her shopping cart and just about ran me over. She apologized quickly and hurried on her way, wherever it was she was going. A different random shopper who had seen the lady almost squash me flat said, "She goes to BYU-Provo." I really laughed this time. "That's exactly right."
I finally got to the electronics department, but it wasn't nearly as entertaining or fulfilling after what I had just been through. After all, "life is a journey, not a destination." (-Ralph Waldo Emerson) That was probably the most epic journey to the Wal-Mart electronics department I had ever taken.

So, when you're trying to decide which college is right for you, just take a trip to the electronics department at your local Wal-Mart. You'll find out quick which school is really the best choice. ;)

¡Ten un buen día!

New Post

So...I'm pretty sure I have problems. Since I last posted, I've come to my own blog, looking for a new post here. As if one could ever appear here without me posting it.

I guess I just wanted there to be something witty and entertaining to read here. Bahaha! Like anything like that has ever been posted on this blog. Oh well. Better luck next time. Actually...better luck if you just go find another blog that's actually witty and entertaining.

What am I doing? I'm telling the people that actually do read my blog (...if there are any) not to read it? I really do think you should read it...I'm just not sure you'll get much out of it. Then again...that might just be blogs in general.

True? Absolutely. (P.S. despair.com is pretty much one of my favorite websites. Check it out!)

So, maybe some day I'll be able to break the social norm and blog about something worthwhile, like...losing weight or traveling to lots of different countries. Until then...this blog is gonna be pretty much average.

Speaking of average, another one of my favorite websites lately has been mylifeisaverage.com. If you ever feel alone in how average your life is, think again! Then laugh your socks off.

Anyway, it's Saturday, so I think I'm going to leave my average, pointless blogging for another day.

Love you all!

Have a nice day, eh?

Happy Birthday, dear Jessica...

I've probably said this before, but when I try to rhyme my poetry, it's not usually any good. Why do I do it, you ask? I don't know. Maybe I just have one of the most amazing, talented sisters in the whole freaking world, and wanted to let her know.

Here you go, Jess. :)

Dearest sister, it's your birthday.
One year older. Seventeen.
You've got skills, better than Monet.
Painting like I've never seen!
Here's to you, sis. Happy Birthday!
Don't work, that would be a crime.
Also you should have a partay!
Just, you know...get home on time. ;)

Love ya, sis!

Have a nice Birthday, eh?

Gnu.

It's a new year. A new beginning. A time for change, and a time for those cute little things we call "New Year's Resolutions" that usually last until...the second week of January? If you're lucky. You know, there are only 365 days that will be called "2011." My challenge to you? Live every one of those days. I'm not just saying that you shouldn't die this year... That's kind of a given. I mean really live. Make every one of these next 360 days worth living.

Here's a Mormon Message for you:

So take God's advice and "look not behind thee." 2011, here we come!!!

Happy new year, eh? 2011 is gonna be partyin. ;)

Have a nice day,

-Moscas
