It's not so much "whatever that means." It's whoever...

"Dear Elder Cannon: you are hereby called to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the Colombia Bogota North Mission. It is anticipated that you will serve for a period of 24 months...You will prepare to preach the gospel in the Spanish language... "

Btw...it's May now.

Just...in case you couldn't tell...it was snowing last week, see. But May has come and not a moment too soon. I just hope this warmth that May has brought will stay for a while. I'm sure it will, and then I'll be burning hot all the time and wishing for some snow. What an ungrateful life I lead. I really do like the cold and the snow...it just...never seems to stay within its boundaries. Snow should fall from late November until February. Then it should stop, and not snow again until the next November. But this is Utah we're talking about, so of course there's snow on and off from October until April. If we're lucky, there's snow on Christmas, and none on the 4th of July. Okay, I've never seen snow on the 4th of July...but my dad has. Anyway, suffice it to say, I'm glad for the warmth, and I hope it decides to stick around. At least until I go to Colombia. Then I'll be set. ;)

I gave my boss my 2 weeks notice yesterday. That was pretty much one of the most exit (that's the abbreviation for "exciting") things that's happened to me in the past few weeks. It was kind of scary, because...well, my boss just scares me.  I'm not entirely sure why. She just does. But I came out fairly unscathed, so I figure it went well.

Right now I'm listening to the Spirit soundtrack. "Run Free" by Hans Zimmer. It always amazed me how someone who's originally from Europe could compose a song that sounds like America. This song...it is America. That might sound weird, but it's true. Wide open prairies, big blue skies, patriotism...it's just...America. It's hard to describe, really. Anyway, Hans Zimmer never ceases to amaze me.

Don't you just love good music? I wish I had more patience/time/resources for composing. Because I love it so much. I heard a song just this morning that made me want to compose. There just aren't enough hours in a day, or days in a week. I have other "more important" things to do, like...work and eat and sleep. Honestly, I would put composing above every one of those things if I could...sigh. One of these days.

After working 4 months at the call center, I promised myself that I would make a living doing something I actually enjoy. Because there's no way on this green earth I'm going to sit in a chair making phone calls for the rest of my life. It's just not for me.

Well, happy May, everyone! I'll be in the MTC before it's June, and I'll turn this blog over to one of my parents to post my mission letters. That's the plan for now, anyway. I wish I could type music. That sounds ridiculous. But thoughts come into my head in the form of music, and I want to write them down for you to see...hear...and I can't.

Wow, I'm ADD. Anyway...Have a nice day?

Love y'all.

Some random thoughts...

...expressed in random ways.

Sometimes I feel a certain way, but I really can't express in words what it is that I feel. It's probably just my lack of eloquence and skill with words, but more than that, I think there are some feelings in this life that really can't be explained. Sometimes it just takes more than words. Maybe it's just a personal problem...who knows.

I saw a red-tailed hawk today. It was in a really random place, too. At least...random for a red-tailed hawk. I was driving up 8th East in Orem, right at the spot where it turns the corner and becomes 16th North. As I turned the corner, it flew from the grass on the left side of the road up onto a street lamp. Crazy! It was a beautiful bird. I had to drive by a couple more times to get a better look at it. Yep.

I think I want to read C. S. Lewis' The Screwtape Letters again. It's such a thought-provoking book. I love it. I think I also want to reread Ender's Game. We'll see if either of those things happen. If I don't do it in the next 4 months, it won't happen for 2 years, so I might want to get on that. I have been reading number 11 of the Tennis Shoes Adventure Series...but that's more of a candy book. It's like watching TV...but without electricity. Okay, it might be slightly more fulfilling than watching TV. TV is usually just degrading. In my experience at least. Um, yeah. Anyway...

Adam Young is one of my heroes. For one, he's just cool. Two, his music is amazing.Yeah, it might all sound the same...but his lyrics are incredible! I really admire his brain. Also, he has a pretty good voice. It might be a little breathy at times, but I think it fits with the feeling of his music. One day, I hope to be as cool as this guy.

"If I'm your boy, let's take a short cut we remember
And we'll enjoy, picking apples in late September
Like we've done for years
Then we'll take a long walk through the corn field
And I'll kiss you between the ears"

Really, you can't beat that. He writes the happiest, most profoundly ...clever lyrics you'll ever hear. Love it.

Here's a bit of inspiration for your day:

Go get 'em!

...walking isn't all bad, right? ;)

Have a nice day...

Call.

It started out as a feeling,
which then grew into a hope,
which then turned into a quiet thought,
which then turned into a quiet word.

And then that word grew louder and louder,
'til it was a battle cry

I'll come back
when you call me.
No need to say goodbye.

I guess the word "call" got me thinking about this song. It's really one of my favorites. For one, it's Regina, so that's a plus. It's also got a lot of orchestra, which is another big plus. And it was in Prince Caspian, which I loved. :)

So I got a mission call. If you didn't know already. Probably the only people that actually read this blog (if there are any. ;) ) already know. I just thought I would get on here and post it. For posterity's sake. Or...something. I got it in the mail on Wednesday (the day all mission calls come), but I wasn't expecting it for at least another week, maybe two. So naturally, I freaked out. I was on the verge of hyperventilating/passing out by the time I got inside.

Colombia Bogota North Mission!!! :) Spanish speaking, and I enter the MTC on May 25th, 2011.

Anyway...there you go. I'm pretty much really excited. :) Also, I'm using a lot of smileys. :) I'm just happy. :D

So...I kind of ran out of things to say. That's usually a good sign that I should end a blog post. But has that ever stopped me in the past? Pff. Of course not!

But I'm kind of tired of blogging today, so I'm gonna let y'all go.

Have a nice day, eh? ;)

Have a prayer....

Right now I'm listening to Rodrigo's "Concierto de Arunjuez", and it's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. It's honestly making me want to cry. But of course I'm not going to...I'm sitting in the front foyer of the Manwaring Student Center. If I weren't, I might just break down in to tears, it's so beautiful and full of emotion. I know...I'm kidding.

...kind of. :p

Am I a sap? I kind of feel like such a romantic sometimes. Then again...I think I am a romantic. In Mrs. Pierce's 10 grade English class we took the Romantic vs. Classical test thingy to see which one you were, and I was most definitely a romantic.

Anyway...you should really listen to this song. It's amazing.

Today is Tuesday. This means that tomorrow I have a music quiz in Humanities, two assignments due for Music, my test for Calculus opens, and I have 2 hours of work, 5 1-hour classes and a 1-hour group rehearsal for Men's Choir. That's kind of a lot. But I know that there are probably a lot of people out there that have even more on their plate for tomorrow, so this is for you. Those of you that are about to collapse under your load of work, I'm praying for you. :)

On www.englishdaily626.com it says that to "have a prayer" means "to have a realistic chance of something happening; to be able to do something." Example: "Eric doesn't have a prayer of passing the math exam today." Then it gives the etymology. It says "When something is very difficult, you might 'pray' for assistance. If something 'has a prayer', it might succeed if it gets a little bit of assistance from above. But if it 'doesn't have a prayer', not even divine intervention will help."

So...in all of this craziness, just know that you really do have a prayer. Ask for that "little bit of assistance from above," and everything will turn out okay. :) Prayer really is the key to life. Especially when things get rough. Well...that and mint oreo's. ;)

Now, this doesn't mean that we only need to pray when life gets hard. Prayer shouldn't just be something that we turn to only in times of desperation. It should be an integral part of our life. We should pray when life is good as well as when it's bad. Even when life just seems kind of meh and nothing much is going on, Heavenly Father still wants to hear from us.

Anyway...I'm feeling kinda preachy. Probably because I am preachy. This wasn't supposed to be a sunday school lesson...but I guess it kind of turned out that way. Anyway, this is for all of my awesome college friends, my awesome high school friends, and my amazing siblings, parents and other family members that might be going through some rough times. I love you, and I'm praying for you. :)

Have a nice day! :)

(P.S. This is kind of random...but I guess that's kind of why it belongs on this blog. The song embedded below is one of my favorite songs ever! Enjoy.)
